Wearlon® Super F-6M Primer        - Boat Bottom Paint -

APPLICATION GUIDE AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Meets EPA, USDA, And FDA 21 CFR 175.300 Requirements

Surface Preparation

Wearlon® Super F-6M Primer is a water based silicone-epoxy coating that can be used by itself or as a primer having exceptional corrosion resistance in a marine environment. Test data has also indicated good corrosion resistance with some applications on untreated cold rolled steel and aluminum. Wearlon® Super F-6M Primer adheres to a broad range of substrates including wood, concrete, fiberglass, metals, and most plastics including epoxies, polyurethanes, and alkyds.

Proper substrate treatment is sometimes necessary prior to application. (Steel: SSPC 7, a brushed-off blast cleaned surface. Aluminum: SSPC 7. Concrete: Power wash, removing oil residue.)

Mixing Instructions

See Application Guide.

Before mixing, shake or stir each component until homogenous. Wearlon® Super F-6M Primer is a 2 component product packaged in 1 Gallon and 5 Gallon kit which contains the proper ratio of ingredients. The entire contents of each container should be mixed together. For quantities less than the pre-packaged kit, mix as follows: To 11 parts of the A component, mix in 2 parts of the B component. Mix the A and the B until completely blended. NO INDUCTION PERIOD NECESSARY... Spray or Roll immediately.

Thinning and Clean up

It is not necessary to thin Wearlon® Super F-6M Primer. Clean up by using soap and water while in an uncured state.

Application and Recoating

In most applications spray Wearlon® Super F-6M Primer to obtain a 3 to 5 mil dry or 6 to 8 wet mils of coating. To ensure a pin hole free coating and to achieve the best corrosion resistance it is sometimes necessary to apply two coats. To avoid sagging and to obtain a pin hole free surface apply two coats of 3 to 5 dry mils. Allow to cure over night or at least ½ hour in between the two coatings. If the Wearlon® Super F-6M Primer does not want to wet, then lightly sand the original coating with a 400 grit sandpaper and remove any loose residue using an Acetone dampen rag prior to the application of the second coating. On sand blasted cold roll steel it may be necessary to apply flash rust additive 104-K prior to Wearlon coating. Make sure the surface temperature is above 40°F and the relative humidity is below 90% before coating. Allow at least 24 hours and ideally one week of curing before putting into service. If the Wearlon surface has become damaged or has excessive wear, then an occasional touch up may be required. This can be achieved by simply spraying 1 to 3 mils over the existing Wearlon surface and allowing it to cure for at least 24 hours prior to putting it back in service. Shelf Life: 6 months Storage: DO NOT FREEZE

Caution: Extremely Slippery—care must be followed when transporting or walking on this surface.
