Wearlon® Sf-1 Ice

sf-1 ice.png

Product Description

Being inherently hydrophobic, SF- 1 Ice deters water, making it shed rapidly. Whatever residual water remaining will get minimal adhesion to the coating, making removal of ice/snow much easier.

Uses

  • Radomes/Radar Equipment

  • Antennas & Communication Equipment

  • Wind Farms

  • Infrastructure

  • Roof Eaves

  • Trash Racks/Debris Screens (Prevent Frazil Ice)

  • Vehicle Roofs (Trains, Cars, Buses)

  • Vehicle Wheel Wells (Trains, Cars, Buses)

  • Roofs of Sheds

These are just a few examples of current uses

What Differentiates SF-1 Ice?

Wearlon® SF-1 Ice is our staple icephobic coating. It is as easy as applying a standard house paint and is tough, lasting for years. What makes SF-1 Ice unique is that it is not only extremely hydrophobic/icephobic, working as a protective barrier to water/snow/ice, but also benefits from the Anti-Friction and Nonstick attributes of Wearlon® coatings. This makes it extremely useful for aiding in movement of material and cleanup of substances.

Why SF-1 Ice?

Are you dealing with ice buildup in your machinery/equipment? Being hydrophobic, water will struggle to collect and pool on SF-1 Ice, making it very difficult for water to freeze in the first place. If freezing does occur, SF-1 Ice nonstick attributes will drastically decrease ice's adhesion to the coating. Protect your equipment from the effects of water corrosion and ice expansion. Prevent water/snow/ice from interfering with communication equipment. Buildup of snow/ice on roofs and infrastructure can be dangerous if it falls. Use SF-1 Ice to prevent large buildups of this dangerous snow and ice.

Does SF-1 Ice Need a Primer?

A Wearlon® Primer is useful for 2 reasons: -Increases adhesion to the substrate and the topcoat to the primer. -Protects from corrosion and high friction/abrasion. SF-1 Ice typically gets good adhesion to its substrate, although, having such a high nonstick rating, it can have a difficult time adhering to the surface properly. We suggest using a light (mistcoat) of 2020.90 primer under the topcoat to ensure optimal adhesion. Our 2020.90 primer gets great adhesion to almost any surface and SF-1 Ice gets the best adhesion to 2020.90 Primer. Use a 1:3 ratio of 2020.90 to SF-1 Ice
