Wearlon® 4545.76 JC        - All Purpose Anti-Stick Coating -

APPLICATION GUIDE AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Meets EPA, USDA, And FDA 21 CFR 175.300 Requirements

Surface Preparation

Wearlon® 4545.76 JC is a silicone-epoxy coating having unique release properties while adhering to a broad range of substrates including wood, concrete, fiberglass, metals, and most plastics including epoxies, polyurethanes, and alkyds. Proper substrate treatment is sometimes necessary prior to application.

(Steel: SSPC 7, a brushed-off blast cleaned surface. Aluminum: SSPC 7. Concrete: Power wash, removing oil residue.)

Mixing Instructions

See Application Guide.

Before mixing, shake or stir each component until homogenous. Wearlon® 4545.76 JC is a 2 component product packaged in 1 Gallon and 5 Gallon kit which contains the proper ratio of ingredients. The entire contents of each container should be mixed together.

For quantities less than the pre-packaged kit, mix as follows: To 11 parts of the A component, mix in 2 parts of the B component. Mix the A and the B until completely blended. NO INDUCTION PERIOD NECESSARY... Spray or Roll immediately.

Thinning and Clean up

In most cases it is not necessary to thin Wearlon® 4545.76 JC to obtain coating thicknesses of 1 or more mils.

Application and Recoating

This coating works well with reactive polyolefin adhesives such as ThermoNet and SikaMelt 9181. Wearlon 4545.76 JC can be rolled, brushed or sprayed. For best results, spray Wearlon® 4545.76 JC with airless spray equipment for a 3 to 4 mil dry, or 6 to 8 mil wet coating. Allow to cure at least 24 hours and ideally one week at room temperature before putting into service. Do not coat substrates at surface temperatures below 40°F and relative humidity above 90%. Wearlon® 4545.76 JC cures at room temperature, however to speed up curing and to obtain the best abrasion, apply on a warm substrate or post heat at an elevated temperature at least 8 hours after application. Conventional spray equipment works well and provides a slight orange peel finish. If the Wearlon surface has become damaged or has excessive wear, then an occasional touch up may be required. This can be achieved by simply spraying 1 to 3 mils of the Wearlon® 4545.76 JC over the existing Wearlon surface and allowing it to cure for at least 24 hours prior to putting it back in service. If poor wetting occurs while applying subsequent Wearlon coatings then sand lightly with a 250 grit pad, wipe off dust with a dampened Acetone rag and then reapply Wearlon® 4545.76 JC. For quick turn-around when used for touch-up as a mold release, warm the tool to 100°F, spray the coating and let stand for 1 hour. Then turn up the temperature to 120°F for 30 minutes. Then follow up by turning the temperature up to 250°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
